QuoteFinder: write a metal RFQ suppliers can answer

Carry the useful idea of QuoteFinder into today’s buy request and private proposal workflow.

Updated 1 min read

The original QuoteFinder centered on a simple idea: a precise request produces a more useful supplier response. On the current MetalSite, use a buy request to publish your requirement and receive private proposals.

Create one clear requirement

Sign in and open the buy request form in your dashboard. Enter title, metal, grade, form, quantity, unit, destination, delivery term and a future response deadline. Put dimensions, tolerances, required arrival date, evidence and special instructions in the requirements field.

Keep complex bills of material readable

Give each requested item a line number. State whether partial supply is acceptable and which items must arrive together. If items need different grades or delivery locations, separate requests can make the responses easier to compare. Keep your own master bill of material and revision reference.

Review responses privately

Once the request is reviewed and published, suppliers can send proposals. Compare the actual offered specification, quantity, price basis, delivery and exclusions. Ask about deviations before accepting.

Use the current workflow

Historical QuoteFinder pages described automated supplier matching, radius searches, reusable bills of material and reporting. Those descriptions document an earlier system. The current workflow uses moderated requests, proposals and participant deal rooms.

Start with the specification template and the comparison checklist.
