Privacy policy

How information is used in the MetalSite workspace.

Updated 1 min read

Information you provide

MetalSite stores account details, company profiles, material listings, buy requests, quotations, messages and saved materials. Account credentials are used to authenticate access.

Visibility

Published listings, buy requests and company profiles are public. Quotations and deal-room messages are available to the participants and authorized administrators. Original migration records are restricted to administrators.

Cookies and operation

An essential session cookie keeps you signed in. Operational logs may record requests needed to diagnose failures or abuse. Passwords are stored as hashes, not as readable account data.

Freight estimate requests

When you request a freight estimate, MetalSite sends the requested route, equipment, load quantity, cargo weight and dimensions to Freightos. Use city, postal-code or port details in the location fields. MetalSite uses search limits and a temporary estimate cache. Freight searches stay outside public marketplace listings.

Freightos processes these details under its service terms and privacy policy. If you continue to the provider to arrange a shipment, its own registration, quotation and booking processes apply.

Your choices

You can ask about access, correction or deletion of account data by contacting [email protected]. Some records may need to be retained to investigate misuse or meet applicable obligations. Avoid sharing banking details or identity documents through public listings.

Trader connections, invitations and alerts

Traders choose whether to publish a business website, WhatsApp number, social profile or confirmed account email. These channels are public after profile approval. Connecting a sign-in provider does not automatically publish those details.

Optional Google and LinkedIn sign-in requests basic identity and confirmed email. MetalSite retains the provider’s account identifier and email snapshot to connect it to your MetalSite account. It does not retain provider access tokens, import contacts or post to your social account. You can disconnect a provider in Account & connections while retaining another available way to recover access.

Public records can be shared through an invitation link. Following a link does not set referral cookies. If you accept invitation credit, MetalSite saves first-party HTTP-only invitation and browser identifiers for 30 days and retains a pseudonymous visit hash for 90 days. Signup, email confirmation and first published listing/request outcomes may then be credited to that invitation. Sharers see aggregate counts, never the recipient’s email or identity. These counts are approximate browser activity, not a list of unique people.

Trader follows and material/country interests are private to your account and authorized administrators. Public profiles show aggregate eligible follower counts. Email opportunity digests are optional, require a confirmed address, skip empty results and offer daily or weekly frequency. Unsubscribe in Network & alerts or through a digest’s unsubscribe link. Operational delivery records distinguish mail-service acceptance from confirmed inbox delivery. Account security messages remain separate from opportunity subscriptions.

To withdraw invitation consent, clear MetalSite’s invitation/browser cookies in your browser. This stops future attribution from that browser; contact [email protected] for access or deletion requests. Published trading and operational records may require retention as described above.
