Condition affects how an offer should be assessed. Ask the seller to explain the description rather than assuming that a label answers every technical question.
Prime material
Ask which specification the material is represented to meet and what documentation supports that statement. Confirm the grade, dimensions, finish and lot identity needed for your application.
Secondary or non-prime material
Ask why the lot is described this way. Request details of defects, dimensional variation, surface condition, missing documents, mixed lots or other limitations. Agree which deviations are acceptable before discussing the final price.
Scrap material
Specify the agreed scrap description, expected composition, dimensions, preparation, contamination limits and inspection or sampling arrangement. Confirm the net-weight basis and who resolves a disputed load.
Keep the description honest
Publish only information you can support about the current lot. Historical auction lots, development adverts and old supplier catalog entries are not evidence of material available today.
Prepare a clear specification and inspection plan. For galvanized material, review storage and surface condition.
