Start with comparable material
Reports are grouped by exact material specification, country, collection city, currency and evidence type. The common basis is EXW collection, taxes and transport excluded, with prepaid bank transfer. Reports on other terms do not enter these series.

Keep bids, offers and trades separate
A buyer bid is a price a buyer is prepared to pay; a seller offer is an asking price. Neither proves a completed sale. Their indications cover the preceding 24 hours. Completed-trade medians cover the preceding seven days and require supporting delivery and settlement evidence during review. An accepted proposal alone is insufficient.
Review the evidence before using it
Signed-in members submit their own activity privately, with permission for anonymous aggregation. Administrators check business identity, related companies, source references, specification, time, quantity, terms and evidence. Related accounts and companies receive one business key. Reports of the same underlying quote or trade share one evidence key. Third-party rate sheets, examples, estimates and unsupported reports are excluded.
Approval records the administrator and review time. Approved report facts cannot be edited in place. An incorrect report must be withdrawn and a correction submitted for a new review. Raw prices, business identities, contacts and supporting evidence remain private to the submitting member and administrators.
Calculate with one vote per business
- Convert weight prices to price per kg: divide a per-tonne price by 1,000; divide a per-pound price by 0.45359237. No currency conversion is performed.
- Within each comparable group and time window, keep the latest report from each independent business. Count each underlying quote or trade once.
- Require at least five independent businesses. Below this floor, publish no price, range or contributor count.
- Use the median of the eligible business prices. With an even count, average the two central values. Each business has equal weight; larger volumes do not buy extra votes.
- Show the observed low/high range, contributor count and observation dates. If the highest price is more than 1.5 times the lowest, withhold that group for further review rather than silently discard observations.
Publish what the evidence supports
Countries and cities are not averaged together. Changing currency selects reports originally quoted in that currency; it does not manufacture a local rate from an overseas price. Expired reports leave the calculation automatically. If activity is insufficient, the board says it is collecting reports. If data cannot be loaded, it shows an unavailable message.
Country suggestions use the connection’s country header when available, otherwise a browser-language region. You can override the suggestion. The market preference is saved in a first-party cookie; it does not change your account country or establish trading eligibility. No precise location permission is requested.
